The Bowling for Bowen event occurs each year to generate funds for the Harold Bowen Scholarship Foundation.
Scholarship founder, Harold Bowen, is no stranger to the sports and education world in Davidson County. The two-time Mayor of Lexington coached football and basketball for Lexington High School in 1948 and has over 33 years of teaching experience. His rich leadership and teaching background has helped highlight the importance of education and leadership roles learned both on and off the playing field. The historic “Voice of the Yellow Jackets” retired in 2003 from his 50 years of sports broadcasting. Mr. Bowen founded the Harold Bowen Scholarship Foundation that funds a one-time scholarship to a local high school student who is capable of playing collegiate sports, but unable to receive a sports scholarship.
